I wanted to find out just how bad this Triamcinolone Cream I've been given really is? I was given 0.1% tubes..15 grams. What are these people thinking? 15 gram tube won't last 3 days. I was also perscribed Pentrax (coal Tar) shampoo which I've had before. Okay so it will clear me up, but no one will want to be around me?????? Can anyone tell me how awful (cortisone) Triamcinolone really is?? I have been reading these post and I think some people are trying to scare you out of using certain medications. Which is wrong! I am asking those persons who are truly honest, on a scale how good or bad is this stuff. And is there anything out there that doesn't contain cortisone, and still works??

Like everything else what works for one person may not work for another. I recently had a severe flare-up after a stint with Skin-Cap and was about 90% covered with P. My doctor suggested I be hospitalized because of the extent as well as the extreme pain associated with my flare-up. He instead gave an injection of Kenalog along with a prescription for the one pound jar of Triamcinolone Acetanide 0.1% to be applied twice daily. I'm also going for PUVA therapy (UVA light treatment) about 3 times per week (a lot). There is a huge risk of a serious rebound from the injection but at the time this was the only fast relief. The intense PUVA therapy helps to minimize the chances of a serious rebound. It has been 2 weeks since the worse flare-up in my life and my skin is almost back to normal. I'm also only applying the cream every other day now. My doctor specifically told me that the use of cortisones alone will not do the job. Again, some treatments work well for some but not so for others.
